Each year the Board of Directors charges our Community Impact Committee with allocating the monies raised during the campaign. Contributions made by our donors help address the root causes of our local issues. They have the power to change the course of a life. By input provided by our community, United Way has established the following impact areas:

Agency aims to ensure all Alamance County public school students have access to a high quality education by raising awareness, coordinating resources and garnering community support.
Agency provides assistance to individuals seeking to become financially self-sufficient through employment, education and training opportunities. ACCSA also offers home weatherization, senior citizen nutrition and some utility/food crisis assistance.
Agency focuses work in three key areas fundamental to strengthening communities: nurturing the potential of kids, helping people live healthier and supporting our neighbors. The agency is committed to extending its services to as broad a membership as reasonably possible. To reach that goal, Financial Assistance is available to potential members or program participants based on need and available funds.
Alamance County Dispute Settlement & Youth Services (F,Y)
Agency provides: Juvenile Mediation, Child & Family Teams, Resolve, Teen Court, Juvenile Restitution & Community Service, a Juvenile Structured Day Program, Strengthening Families, and Mediation. Visit www.alamancedisputesettlement.org for more information.
Agency provides nutritious home-delivered meals for persons who are 60 years or older, live alone, do not drive, have minimal support, receive less than 20 hours of in-home aid assistance a week and are having trouble with daily living skills; also provides a grocery shopper program for those who are not physically or mentally capable of going to the grocery store.
Services provided to help individuals meet the challenges of aging include: Information and Referral services, Case Assistance (assistance to locate and obtain needed services), Care Management services (comprehensive assessment, care coordination and follow-up from a professional Care Manager to help frail, older persons or those with complex needs remain living at home), Family Caregiver Education & Support services and advocacy.
Agency provides services for pregnant women and mothers who are struggling with drug abuse or addiction. Services include counseling, case management, residential referral, transportation and childcare.
Agency shapes opinion and mobilizes resources to support Alamance County families in creating and sustaining nurturing environments for their children.
Agency is a shelter for the homeless, hungry and hopeless; a sanctuary for those seeking spiritual renewal; and a catalyst for personal responsibility and transformation. We are an interfaith alliance of individuals, churches and community agencies who share a single commitment: To serve the "least of these." To fulfill this mission, there is an Emergency Night Shelter, Good Shepherd Kitchen Program, Allied Day Shelter and Resource Center, and Christian Assistance Network.
Agency is a humanitarian organization led by volunteers that provides immediate relief to victims of disaster, collects life-saving blood and blood products, teaches valuable health and safety skills like CPR and First Aid, and serves as a communication contact for members of the military and their families.
Christmas Cheer assists families with children and the elderly. Our goal is to provide toys for the children, food for the family and warm clothes when possible. For the elderly we focus on food, warm clothing and special requests.
Consumer Credit Counseling Services (Family Service of the Piedmont) (F)

Agency provides counseling for individuals and families experiencing problems with money management skills, problems handling credit card accounts, possible foreclosure problems regarding home mortgages and counseling for consumers facing bankruptcy. Minimum fees are associated with the Debt Management Program and the Pre-Bankruptcy counseling.
Crossroads: Sexual Assault Response & Resource Center (F,Y)
CrossRoads' mission is to reduce sexual violence, child victimization and their effects through confidential counseling, advocacy, child medical treatment, education and community awareness for adults and children.
Emergency Shelter, Transitional Housing, Court Advocacy, Support Group and Supervised Visitation are provided for victims of domestic violence and their children.
Agency operates a day program Monday - Friday from 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. They provide cognitive, social and physical activity to people aged 60 and older. Younger adults can attend when there is a special need. Caregiver library is on-site and open to the public.
Legal Aid of North Carolina is a federally funded agency which provides free legal assistance, advice and representation to seniors (60+ years of age) and low-income individuals in certain civil matters.
Agency assists persons with employment barriers to achieve vocational potential; provides job training, job placement, and transportation to employment.
Old North State Council, Boy Scouts of America (Y)
The Old North State Council, Boy Scouts of America, provides programs for boys 6 - 20 and girls 13 - 20. Program objectives of the Boy Scouts are to teach character development, citizenship and leadership. Scout units are located throughout Alamance County.
Agency provides after-school programs to help students academically and reduce school drop-outs, crime, drug abuse, teen pregnancy, gang violence, and family abuse.
RTSA provides the following treatment and recovery services to individuals within our community: Non-hospital Medical Detoxification, Facility-based Crisis Services, Halfway House Services for Men, Recovery Home for Women and Group Home Services to individuals with mental illness.
Agency provides opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), their families and communities to enhance the quality of life through advocacy, support and education.
Agency has after-school care and summer programs for youth that emphasize: Character & Leadership Development, Education & Career Development, Sports, Fitness & Recreation, the Arts and Health & Life Skills (Alcohol, Drug & Gang Prevention Programs).
Agency helps women and their families improve and enrich their personal and professional lives through education, support services, networking and community resources. Services include case management with regard to self-sufficiency, legal information, career exploration and education. Programs are also provided for professional development and personal enrichment.

4-H is a fun and educational program where youth between the ages of 5 and 19 get to "Learn by Doing." In 4-H you can go to camp, raise an animal, do community service, develop job skills, build lifelong frienships and much more. Best of all, membership is FREE! Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell (B)
Hospice of Alamance has provided loving, compassionate care since 1982 to patients at the end of life, and has supported their families with grief counseling and support. Care is provided in patients' homes, area nursing homes and the Hospice Home. Grief counseling is available at no charge for any person in the community dealing with loss, not just family members of hospice patients.
