Alamance Arts Welcomes New Executive Director

We are excited to introduce the next executive director of Alamance Arts, Tammy Cobb. She took the reins on Monday, May 16. Her predecessor was Cary Worthy, who retired recently after serving as director for over 25 years.tammy cobb

For the past 20 years, Cobb served as the sole staff member in Community Partnerships for Service Learning and Community Engagement at Elon University. This was the University’s first initiative to provide a structured response to community organizations seeking to utilize student volunteers and is now recognized as a national leader in community partnerships. Prior to her service at Elon, Cobb worked in Alamance County government as coordinator of the Juvenile Work Restitution Program and then ran the Alamance Friends of Youth program. 

Her list of civic engagements is lengthy: 
• Advisory Committee Member, Salvation Army and Boys and Girls Club NC/SC 
• Lead Team Member, Sustainable Alamance-Restoration Burlington 
• Member, Alamance County Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build Committee
• Commissioner Committee Chair Youth Engagement Committee
• Member, Alamance County Wellness Collaborative 
• Council Member/Past Chair, The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club Council 
• Council Member, Alamance County Community Council 
• Campaign Division Co-chair, United Way of Alamance County
• Board Member/Past President, Piedmont Carolina Chapter American Red Cross 

Cobb earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services studies from Elon College and certificates in The Science of Well-Being from Yale University, Life Coaching from Newskills Academy, Non-profit Board Consulting from Boardsource, and Non-profit Management from Duke University. 

"It is with excitement and a great honor to be a part of the team of Alamance Arts! I look forward to continuing the mission of Alamance Arts as the arts are for everyone," Cobb said.
