Job Opening: Gift Shop Attendant

Job Summary: Is a contributing and professional team member who finds pleasure in the purpose and sale of Artist work from the Galleries and Picasso’s Gift shop. Non-Exempt part time position.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist with the display, inventory, and sales of the visual arts for the Picasso’s Gift Shop on Saturdays. Is available to work varied Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm and support rentals of the facility and evening or other hours as required during holidays and inventory purposes. There may be a Sunday requirement if rentals are being accepted.

• Navigates flexible weekend shift with other attendants. Represents Alamance Arts and Picasso’s with high degree of engaged customer service.
• Collects receipts from Register for Artist Support Director who curates and selects items for the gift shop and Christmas at Alamance Arts event.
• Provides continual feedback to the supervisor on issues that need attention and makes suggestions for continual improvement.
• Daily tasks include dusting, remove items to clean shelves and maintain cleanliness of the shop.
• Upkeep displays by straightening items and if an item is sold, visually filling the hole.
• Regularly watches items in back stock to maintain a regular rotation on the shelves.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent communication and diplomacy skills.
• Ability to use sales machinery efficiently and solve problems on the spot.
• Can stand on and safely use a step ladder in order to reach items above six feet. (with assistance)
• Accurately counts cash amounts at end of day and locks facility.
• Immediately reports incidents of safety, damage or of other concern.
• Helps ensure the safety of self, others and property by remaining present in the gift shop with shoppers.
Physical Requirements
• Must have visual acuity to be able to read and write hand-written and typewritten material including being able to read a computer screen.
• Must be able to walk up two flights of stairs.
• Must be able to talk and hear in order to be able to respond to the public, artists, volunteers and other staff.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds and operate general office equipment.

Each staff person at Alamance Arts is responsible for the day–to–day cleanliness, appearance, and operation of the Captain White House facility.
