ABSS to host parent information session for new K-5 virtual school

ABSS Schedules Student/Parent Information Session
Regarding New K-5 Virtual School

Strong Initial Interest Paves Way for K-5 Virtual Option

With a strong positive response expressed to date on a recent K-5 virtual school interest survey, Alamance-Burlington Schools (ABSS) plans to add grades K-5 to the new Alamance Virtual School (AVS) that is already planned to open in August 2021 for students in grades 6-12.

The new K-5 opportunity is available for any Alamance County family with a student currently in Pre-K through 4th grade. To date, over 300 families have already expressed interest in the K-5 virtual learning option for next school year.

ABSS is hosting an online parent/student information session about the new K-5 virtual option on Monday, May 3 at 6:30 pm. A Spanish-language session is set for 5:30 pm. Visit the ABSS website: https://www.abss.k12.nc.us/domain/9522 to register for the online information session and to complete a student application.

The deadline to complete the student application is Wednesday, May 5.

Parents who have already completed an interest survey for the K-5 virtual option will receive an email from ABSS about the information session and next steps.

Registration for middle and high school students has already closed for AVS for the fall semester with nearly 500 students currently in grades 5-11 making the request to attend beginning in August.

Contact the ABSS Office of the Chief Secondary Officer at 336-438-4110 with questions about the new K-5 virtual option.
