Every year, the City of Burlington receives federal dollars from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to be spent through two programs: Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and HOME funds for housing investment. The combined total of the funding this year could be as much as $2.1 million. Burlington City Council guides how CDBG dollars are spent and a five-county Eastern Home Consortium board determines how HOME funds are spent. CDBG funding and goals for HOME fund spending are outlined in an Annual Action Plan that is adopted by Burlington City Council. Earlier in June, City Council heard public comment that there was a need to hold more opportunities for residents to learn more about how to apply for grants though the federal HUD and CDBG programs. There are two upcoming opportunities to do just that.
The two public meetings will be held to gather community input on the Draft Plan and on how to prioritize this funding for things like affordable housing, operations support for local 501(c)(3) non-profits, and local development/infrastructure projects in low- and moderate-income areas.
The meetings will be open-house style and held:

June 25, 2026 6:00pm
