Creating Space for Connection

Please read the For Alamance Narrative Team's latest story, Creating Space for Connection, which centers on Frankie Blackburn and Bill Traynor — two longtime community builders who moved to southern Alamance County and found a community full of wonderful people, but no networks to bring them together.

So they built one.

What started as backyard gatherings and Friday night fire pits has grown into Neighbor Up — a community-building initiative with a 300+ subscriber newsletter, local government coverage written by neighbor observers, and community events like Saxapaholla, where residents share music, poetry, and storytelling. Neighbor Up is one example of the kind of grassroots connection that For Alamance's work helps uplift.
