Volunteers Needed for Alamance Arts

If you like people, and/or art, and/or entertaining and/or gardening, then we have a place for you!

Alamance Arts, located in the Captain White House on S. Main Street in Graham, is recruiting new volunteers.  Some of our volunteers serve as docents as they welcome visitors to the house and give basic information about the current exhibits. Other volunteers like to help in the gift shop. Some like to help with the many receptions that we have. And then there are those folks who like to get their hands dirty in the garden, pulling weeds. Finally we have folks we can count on to help us move shelving back and forth a few times a year.

We can use students who want to earn community service hours, and we’re happy to write letters of reference.

What kind of commitment is required? Whatever level you would like to make. Many of our docents volunteer one morning or afternoon a month, such as the second Tuesday morning of the month. Some docents fill in holes in the calendar when they are available. The garden folks know when they are needed. And we call the heavy lifters as needed!

We do provide training for our docents so they will be knowledgeable about the current exhibits. Our volunteers truly are the face of Alamance Arts since the staff is working upstairs when visitors drop by.
